Gandhi-King Center for Nonviolence

Hello
Hello, I’m Carolyn Foster, and I am proud to be the Executive Director for the Gandhi-King Center for Nonviolence. As the cousin (through marriage) of Coretta Scott King, I have been inspired by the courageous and dedicated life she fulfilled as a mother, wife, and social justice leader, in her own right. My husband, Gregory W. Foster and I share a deep faith that guides our dedication to social justice and community empowerment.
My Story
My Humanitarian Work:
I have worked for almost 28 years in the public school system with children and families providing social support and encouragement to all who have crossed my path, advocating for fairness in a system that has marginalized families and students, advocating for their success. Also, having worked as a Suicide Crisis Counselor providing emotional support to individuals who are in crisis has taught me to be even more compassionate for all walks of life, no matter the age, gender, or race.
Gandhi-King Center for Nonviolence:
The Gandhi-King Center for Nonviolence provides a vital platform for promoting peace, nonviolence, and conflict resolution. I am proud to be a part of this organization and contribute to its mission of creating a more just and peaceful world.

My Beliefs:
I strongly believe that everyone has the potential to succeed regardless of their background. Individuals must be given a chance to express themselves in a legal and nonviolent, peaceful way.

My Professional Journey:
My journey in the educational system and mental health system has been one of the humaneness, compassion, and mindfulness, providing support and resources to help empower individuals, families, and communities.

My Commitment:
I am committed to using my skills and knowledge, and experience to promote peace, justice, and equality for all.
